Apple just announced a few minutes ago something that had been rumoured for weeks. The purchase of Beats Music and Beats Electronics is finally official. This acquisition means the incorporation of Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre to Apple’s ranks. Thus, Apple takes over both companies for $3 billion , which includes a purchase price of approximately $2.6 billion, plus almost $400 million to be paid later.
This is how Tim Cook :
Jimmy Iovine also has a few words in honor of the acquisition:
Eddy Cue , Apple’s senior vice president of Software and Internet Services, is not without comment either:
As we can see, Cue himself gives us a preview of how the Californian company of the music giant will be exploited in some way. We’ll see that thanks to the purchase of Beats the iTunes Radio service will be improved and apparently will integrate a paid subscription service similar to the one Beats uses.
This transaction has yet to be approved by the regulatory authorities, so it is not expected to be officially completed until the fourth quarter, between July and September 2014 .
