DataTiger defines itself as a startup specialized in email marketing campaigns. According to Bloomberg, Apple took over the legal entity behind this brand, Operatedata Ltd. The amount paid by Cupertino’s is not known, nor is there an official communication about it.
A quick search on LinkedIn yields only 13 profiles of people who are involved with DataTiger. Two of these are investors who have participated in its initial funding as angel investors , leaving only eleven as DataTiger employees.
As it is such a small startup and without knowing the amount that has closed the acquisition , it is very likely that it is an acqui-hire or acquisition-hiring of its employees. Bloomberg claims about DataTiger:
As discovered by MacRumors, the company’s website is disabled. But also in LinkedIn you can see that their proposal is the “easiest and fastest way to increase retention and monetization”. Using a series of tools , DataTiger ensures that it can optimise the marketing path for customers “in real time and across all channels”.

Apple regularly conducts email marketing campaigns among its customers. Whether it’s reporting the availability of new products such as the latest iPhone, giving gift ideas or showing a collection of top Apple Music albums. This is not one of the most striking acquisitions of the apple, but it is clear that are looking to improve their email marketing results with the addition of the new equipment.
