Today Apple has solved one of its most absurd shortcomings in its developer community: promotional codes for App Store applications now work worldwide after doing so only in the United States since the app store saw the light more than two years ago.
For those who don’t know what we are talking about, the developers of the App Store applications can generate a code that, properly entered in the store, allows us to download paid applications for free . These are codes that can be used to give away software, to give it away as a prize in a raffle or to have someone try out this program temporarily.
Since they are only available in the United States, until now people from the rest of the world had to have an iTunes Store account from that country if they wanted to use the promotional codes, which is a hassle. Luckily, that’s over as of now. Oh, and taking advantage of the announcement, Apple has said that in the case of the Mac App Store there won’t be this kind of code since the developers will be able to send the application file as we have always done until now.
