How to prevent the iPhone screen from turning on automatically in iOS 10

One of the new features that iOS 10 has brought to the latest iPhone is the lift to activate function . This function has been inherited from the Apple Watch and makes the smartphone screen automatically turn on when the device is lifted from any surface on which it is placed.

This feature is useful, for example, to see if we have new notifications simply by picking up the iPhone or to check the time. But this feature that may seem convenient in some cases can also have a quite negative impact on the device’s autonomy . By holding the iPhone in your hand and moving it, it is possible that the screen turns on without us wanting to and if that happens many times throughout the day the battery consumption can be quite large (after all, the screen is one of the components that consumes the most power).

In this situation many of you will probably want to deactivate elevation to activate on your iPhone with iOS 10 and in the following lines we explain the steps to follow to do so.

Deactivate this feature of iOS 10 and very easy and, of course, if at any time we want to use it again we can activate it by repeating the process.

1.- The first thing to do is to open Settings and go to the option Screen and brightness .

2.- We change the switch from the option Raise to activate to off (or to on if we already had it deactivated and we want it to work again).

That’s it, with these two simple steps the function will be completely disabled and our iPhone’s screen will not automatically turn on when the screen is placed in the vertical position.

What do you think of the Raise to Activate function? Do you think it’s worth keeping it active despite the possible increase in battery consumption?
