Fitbit se estrella ahogada por el Apple Watch.
The work of technology companies is often reflected in the patents they apply for. However, that does not mean that they will translate into a product to be purchased in a store. This could be the case of one of the last patents approved to Apple, a case capable of recharging the Apple Watch which reminds of the AirPods.
Patently Apple has discovered up to 26 patents that have just been granted to Apple recently. In the image you can see a case similar to the one the company delivers with the Apple Watch Sport that would house the watch and up to two additional straps inside.
Within the patent description, we found out why Apple would want to keep straps inside as well. This is a case that would also recharge the straps that need a battery to perform additional functions. In other words, straps with additional sensors or some kind of “intelligence”.
We know that Apple has been exploring straps with some new functionality, such as touch sensors. With this case, the user could recharge the entire watch assembly at once and use it for transportation.
This patent appears to combine the AirPod case with the Apple AirPower wireless charging station
The ease of use of this invention does not seem too high. The wearer would have to remove the watch, slide the straps, place the case and both straps in the case to be able to charge it. A more elaborate set of actions than one would expect from Apple. We’re still waiting for Cupertino’s company to launch its AirPower accessory, a state-of-the-art charging dock for iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch.
It is quite possible that this patent will never materialize in a product available in stores. But it’s remarkable how many ideas the company comes up with in its labs.
