When Apple introduced the new model of iPhone the 3GS, they gave a coup de grace by keeping the basic model of the 8 GB 3G as an economic variant to the new version of their mobile device. A German buyer is reported to have received a refurbished 8GB iPhone named ” iPhone 3GS v2.2 8GB “. The model number ” A1241 ” indicates that it is an iPhone 3G, but other items within the package point to an 8GB 3GS model. The main difference between 3G and 3GS devices lies in their processor, which in the case of the 3GS is capable of supporting Open GL 2.0 .

Although within Apple it is acknowledged that they had received more orders for iPhone 3GS than they expected, they have already solved the stock break since the end of Autumn. Many are now wondering if at this event, which will presumably be held on January 26th, we will see the disappearance of the iPhone 3G being replaced by an 8GB 3GS model.
