AirPort Express featured as HomeKit accessory in iOS 11.4 beta

¿Y si Apple quiere que carguemos los iPhone con los próximos routers AirPort?

From AppleInsider they have been able to confirm what some users are saying on the net: AirPort Express are appearing in the iOS 11.4 beta Home application as if they were just another HomeKit accessory. This only happens with the third generation of this access point, and although it offers the possibility to add it as an accessory at the end there is an error that prevents it.

This may be no more than an Apple experiment (iOS betas are precisely the best place to find these experiments), but there are also suspicions that this may be the trail of the arrival of AirPlay 2 .

Knowing that there are rumors about the end of the AirPort division and traces such as the sale of other brands’ devices in the Apple Store itself, it is normal that there are conflicting opinions about this. Why do this if maybe in a short time the official support of the AirPort Express will be withdrawn simply because of its age and because they are not renewed? Why is this happening in the Express models and not in the Extreme or Time Capsule?

I guess that’s something we’ll be able to unveil as soon as the final and stable version of iOS 11.4 is available. It may just be a test, but perhaps it’s a reason to hope that Apple will renew its “fleet” of access points.
