A second life for the iPhone SE and iPad mini 4: more base capacity

Di hola al nuevo iPad: potencia a un precio muy atractivo.

If a few minutes ago we were looking at the new iPhone 7 (RED) and its new ruby color and then looking at the new iPad (plain), Apple has also had plenty of time for two other products: the iPhone SE and the iPad mini 4 . But the novelties around both devices are not the ones we have seen in other occasions. Their only novelty is an increase in base storage.

At first glance, the most interesting thing is that the storage of the iPad mini 4 and the iPhone SE increases . The final result is as follows:

  • iPhone SE in four colors: 32GB and 128GB, rising from the 16GB and 64GB with which it was launched last year.
  • iPad mini 4 in three colours: only 128GB of storage, eliminating the previous 16GB and 64GB capacities.
  • Cellular option for the “mini” for an additional 150 euros.

In the case of the iPhone SE, it seems that the price of both capacities is maintained with respect to the original ones: 489 and 599 euros respectively. However, the elimination of the 16GB and 64GB in the iPad mini 4 leads to a price increase that positions it above the new 9.7-inch iPad and its 399 euros.

The explanation for this change in storage and position in the iPad family is strange, but it might make some sense. The iPad mini 4 is a compact iPad that uses the A8 chip of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus , more than enough to move the iOS 10 easily. A single 128GB model means that those who’ve bought the iPad mini up to now have tended to buy it for as much capacity as possible. As for the price, we’ve got one made of lime and one made of sand: much more storage for a higher price.
