Priced at around 400 euros, Apple has sought to offer a low-cost option for those who want the quality of an iPad without needing the power of an iPad Pro. For the vast majority of people it is the tablet perfect and reasonably priced, well, Apple could renew it in a few months with a lower price than the current one.

According to the Taiwanese media DigiTimes, Apple may be preparing a new 9.7-inch model for this year. The idea is that in addition to updating the inside, it updates its price to $259. If we take into account that the current one costs 329 dollars… it could become 350 euros in Spain, or less. Apple’s idea according to DigiTimes is to penetrate markets with a smaller budget or that need large scale devices, for example companies.

Although the market for tablets has been shrinking in recent years, the fact is that Apple seems to be recovering . In the financial results of the last few months, this segment has only grown. Part of the blame lies with the iPad Pro, but also the 9.7-inch iPad launched in March.

DigiTimes has had some successes in the past as a source, but also some mistakes. I mean, we have to take this data with a grain of salt. Maybe it’s an update of the current one, maybe a new model, maybe it has better specs or maybe even worse. Maybe it is sold only to companies or schools or maybe to the whole public. In either case, it is reasonable that Apple tries to release an even cheaper model to use as an entry range.
