The similarity in design between the iPhone 7 Plus and the OnePlus 5 is more than reasonable, as we saw when it was first leaked. However, we didn’t know if this similarity would also be in the operation of the device. While it is true that they have two different operating systems, both the OnePlus 5 and the iPhone 7 Plus are two powerful phones that seek to provide an exquisite user experience. Will they both succeed?
In the YouTube channel EveryThingApplePro they wanted to test the new OnePlus phone by comparing it in speed with the iPhone 7 Plus . To do this, they have carried out the now classic tests of opening applications, rebooting devices, performance tests or fingerprint sensor tests. All of them, in order to see the real speed in the day to day of each one of them.
In the video you can see how opening a series of applications equally on both devices, the iPhone 7 Plus takes about two minutes while the OnePlus needs three minutes to do so. We also found a slight difference when rebooting the device, although it is true that this is of little relevance. Where the OnePlus does win is in the performance tests, though, we can’t rely much on these tests, as it has been shown that the brand optimizes its phones to get more performance in these tests.
As we can see in the video, the OnePlus 5 is really fast, however, there are tests in which it does not manage to beat the iPhone 7 Plus. Where is the surprise then? In that the iPhone 7 Plus is a phone from last year with 3 GB of RAM, compared to the 8 GB of RAM of the OnePlus 5 . This once again demonstrates the potential of iOS and its optimization to work with Apple devices.
