Apple may once again break all iPhone sales records for a quarter
Apple is a tremendous media company, that’s for sure. Cupertino’s company will announce its results for the last quarter next week, but, of course, most market research and analysis firms have already published their forecasts.
Fortune has published its usual analysis of the predictions of the most important firms in the market. This medium makes a table with the predictions of 44 analysts of companies. Will they all agree? What will they have said?
The number of iPhones sold could be around 55 million units, according to analysts
As we said, the magazine studied the predictions of 44 analysts, 27 professionals and 17 amateurs. The consensus of these 44 professionals could be said to be around the 55.3 million units of the iPhone sold in the last quarter, which would mean an increase of 16% compared to the same quarter last year.
It seems that all experts agree that the numbers achieved by the Apple smartphone in any of its versions will be quite high. We already know that the joint sales of the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c managed to break all sales records in their first weekend. If we add to these initial sales a constant sales trickle and the push of the Christmas holiday season, we can assume that the iPhone sales figures will be quite important.
Among the different analysts who have given their predictions to Fortune, as we mentioned before, we have analysts who belong to some institution and others who are independent. As usual, independent analysts are usually more optimistic than institutional analysts, although on this occasion the gap between the two is narrower than ever .
Institutional analysts have published a prediction of 54.1 million iPhones sold in the last quarter, while independent analysts’ data is 57.1 million. If the prediction comes true, it will be a new Apple record .
On the other hand, data published by CIRP on consumers’ purchasing habits suggest that the new iPads are being very well received. As explained in 9to5mac, between the iPad Air and the iPad mini Retina represent 57% of iPad sales , despite being more expensive than the older models.
What do you think? Do you think the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c have been so well received that they have broken Apple’s record for sales in a quarter? Tell us your impressions!
