Not everyone noticed Apple’s intentions after introducing its 27-inch LED Cinema Display, and some assumed that the 24-inch model would still be alive and kicking. Not so: after the appearance of the 27-inch model, the 24-inch LED Cinema will disappear .
It won’t be instantaneous: the 24-inch model will still be in the shops, but at a reduced price so that it can be sold until there are no more units left. The same will be done with the old 30 inch screen : it will be sold at 1799 dollars until there are no more units left. As soon as these screens are out of stock they will disappear from the market definitively.
As for the 30-inch screen, it’s been retirement for a while now, although some may not like the fact that only the 27-inch screen is sold without any smaller, more affordable options. According to Apple, the new screen model “is ideal for the uses that customers are giving it” .
So we have one simple Apple screen in circulation again and not two as many expected. Time will tell if it was a good move or not, although we have the good news that the price of the new panel is lower than the alternative that users have always resorted to: Dell.
