After a few days, after the hangover from the keynote , the calm, the routine and the rumours return. But since there can be no more rumors about the new iPhone or iWatch, now it’s time to get into the laptop arena.
There’s been talk for some time now that Apple would be behind launching a 12-inch MacBook Air model, with an even thinner design than the current fanless, Retina display, and trackpad without a button . Well, these rumours are back, and this team would be in advanced stages of development, in Cupertino’s offices.
This machine could be falling behind because of Intel, which is falling too far behind with its new Broadwell family of processors. So if all goes well, we may see the new MacBook Air family in late 2014 or early 2015. This would mean we could see them in the form of a presentation in October, along with the new iPad, even if they’re not available until months later, as is becoming a common trend at Apple.
One of the biggest innovations would be their colours, and they would become the first Apple laptops to be available in colour after the first generation iBook, available in a wide range of striking colours. After that, the most colourful MacBook we’ve seen has been in black or white. Now, the new MacBook Air could be offered in the same colours as the iPhone or iPad: in silver, space grey or gold .
It would be a way to boost sales of these laptops, which in gold would delight the wealthiest female students or executives . If I had to buy one, I would definitely go for the elegant space grey.
