Apple launched the Apple TV+ service as its flagship service to compete in the world of streaming content. In this project, the Bite Apple people have and plan to continue to invest a lot of resources. However, this seems not to have been enough to attract users, at least to date.
According to the publication made by Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi, less than 10 million Apple customers have accepted the offer of free trial of the Apple TV+ streaming platform. The figure is quite low, taking into account that approximately sixty million customers are eligible for one year of free service for Apple TV+ if they purchased a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod Touch or Apple TV decoder after September 10.
Sacconaghi’s prediction is based on Apple’s results for the first quarter of 2020 . He believes that Apple has not effectively promoted the video service to its largest user base and said he is confident that it could be deliberately expanding its promotions to change the impact achieved in these early months.
This report takes a completely opposite view to the one recently published by the Wall Street Journal, which included estimates that Apple TV+ could have over 30 million subscribers. As well as the statements of CEO Tim Cook who said that “Apple TV+ has had an exciting start” . However, it is not the first time that some analyst distrusts the success of the platform.
So far, Apple has not shared the number of Apple TV+ subscribers either, so only news about its success can be dismissed or accepted completely. What it has shared, however, is the plan to continue offering new programs in different genres and the renewal of the seasons of its first shows.
